What is Dnevni avaz?

Dnevni avaz is a daily newspaper published in Sarajevo. Its impressum names the publisher as “avaz - roto press d.o.o.”, at Tešanjska 24a, 71000 Sarajevo. It gives Nermin Demirović as editor-in-chief and Sanel Konjhodžić as sport editor; those are the positions on 24 September 2026.[1]

The Media Ownership Monitor Bosnia and Herzegovina 2023, run by BIRN Bosnia and Herzegovina, lists Avaz-Roto Press among the media-owning companies in its sample.[2] On ownership, it states that Dnevni avaz is “u vlasništvu Azre Radončić, bivše supruge osnivača tih novina Fahrudina Radončića”.[3] That is the monitor's statement as of its 2023 edition. No more recent ownership statement was retrieved from the publisher or a regulator, so the ownership given here is anchored to 2023.

The paper's online edition, avaz.ba, is in the monitor's online sample as Avaz.ba.[4] Its sport coverage sits on a path of that domain, avaz.ba/sport.[5]

What does Dnevni avaz cover?

The sport section on avaz.ba is divided into Nogomet, Košarka, Tenis, Borilački sportovi, Ostali sportovi and Auto-moto.[5]

The impressum names a sport editor, which places sport among the paper's standing desks.[1] On 24 September 2026 the section carried international items on tennis, football and basketball.[5]

The football page that day mixed domestic and foreign items. Among them were “Čelik stiže na veliku proslavu: Zeničani uveličavaju 100 godina Natrona”, on a club from Zenica, and “Tabaković ponovo među odabranima: Zmaj u prilici da veže dva priznanja”. Most of its other headlines concerned football abroad, from Barcelona and Real Madrid to Bayern Munich.[6]

No list of the paper's sports correspondents, or of events covered in print, was retrieved from its own site. No broadcast or streaming rights held by the paper were retrieved, and none is asserted here. The description rests on the impressum, the section's structure and the monitoring body's pages.

How large is Dnevni avaz's audience?

No audited readership survey for Bosnia and Herzegovina was retrieved from an audience-measurement body. What exists is a monitoring body's reading of research-agency data.

The Media Ownership Monitor 2023 states: “Pored toga, kao što se može zaključiti iz podataka agencije IPSOS, daleko najčitanije novine u Bosni i Hercegovini su Dnevni avaz”. It continues with the ownership clause quoted above.[3] The page gives no readership figure for the paper and no period for the IPSOS data it cites.

For the online edition, the monitor states: “Prema podacima agencije IPSOS, Klix i Avaz imaju daleko najveći doseg u periodu od marta 2022. do marta 2023. godine.”[4] It rates the print market's readership concentration at 69 per cent for the top four, and the online market's audience concentration at 67.7 per cent.[7] These are market figures and characterisations, not measured figures for the paper's sport pages.

The publisher's advertiser page claims 2,894,943 unique visitors a month for the website and calls the printed paper “Najtiražnija novina u historiji posljeratne Bosne i Hercegovine”. It also states that programmes from its own video production have “preko 4 miliona pregleda” a month. It names no measuring body, period or circulation figure for any of these claims.[8] The home page describes the title as “Najtiražniji i najutjecajniji printani i internet medij u Bosni i Hercegovini”.[9] These are the publisher's descriptions of itself, attributed and not adopted.

Since when has Dnevni avaz existed?

The impressum gives three dates. It states: “Kompanija “Avaz” osnovana je 20.10.1991. godine. Prvi broj sedmičnog lista “Bošnjački avaz” odštampan je 15.09.1993. godine. Prvi broj dnevnog lista “Dnevni avaz” odštampan je 02.10.1995. godine.”[1]

On the publisher's account, then, the company dates from 1991, a weekly predecessor from 1993 and the daily from 1995. These are the publisher's own dates. No independent source for them was retrieved, so they are attributed and not adopted. No launch date for avaz.ba or its sport section was retrieved.

Why does Dnevni avaz matter in Bosnia and Herzegovina's sport?

On the monitor's reading of IPSOS data, Dnevni avaz is the most-read newspaper in the country, and Avaz, with Klix, has by far the widest online reach. Those are the monitor's statements for its 2023 edition.[3][4]

The same monitor names the paper's owner, and the owner's relation to the paper's founder, in its print page.[3] On the build date its football page carried a domestic item on the Zenica club Čelik beside foreign club news, and its home page presented the title with the self-description quoted above.[6][9]

The paper keeps a named sport editor and a sport section divided by sport.[1][5]
