What is Deportes TVC?

Deportes TVC is the sports brand of the Televicentro group. It comprises the site deportestvc.com, a television channel that its own schedule names Canal Deportes TVC, and a streaming platform, Deportes TVC+.[1][3]

The site's terms and conditions state: “El portal www.deportestvc.com pertenece a Compañía Televisora Hondureña S.A.”[2] Its footer, as retrieved on 26 September 2026, reads “© 2025 Powered by Digital Media TVC.”[1] Under “Nuestros Portales” the footer links Tunota, Televicentro, RadioHRN and DeportesTVC+.[1] These statements are the outlet's own; no broadcasting licence register naming the licensee of the channel was retrieved, and the market study of radio and television posted by the competition authority, the CDPC, could not be retrieved.

The site describes itself in its own summary as offering “Noticias deportivas de Honduras: Selección, resultados en vivo, fichajes y entrevistas.”[1]

What does Deportes TVC cover?

The Liga Hondubet. Deportes TVC reported on 25 July 2026 that the opening match of the Apertura 2026-2027 of the domestic football league, Platense against Real España at the Estadio Excélsior in Puerto Cortés, could be followed “en vivo y en exclusiva a través de la pantalla de Canal Deportes TVC, la plataforma de streaming Deportes TVC + y con el seguimiento minuto a minuto en nuestro portal deportestvc.com”.[3] The league's own site confirms that the tournament began on Friday 31 July 2026 with twelve clubs.[4] Televicentro's own site, listing the fixtures of the eighth matchday on 18 September 2026, stated: “Los partidos de la jornada 8 podrán disfrutarse a través de Canal Deportes TVC y DTVC+.” It named Radio HRN for radio coverage.[8] No statement of the group's broadcast rights to the tournament, or of their term, was retrieved.

League governance. The site reported on 22 June 2026 that clubs in the new tournament “ahora solo tendrán que cumplir con un mínimo de 540 minutos Sub-20 en la cancha”, in place of “el severo requisito de los 810 minutos que se había establecido en los campeonatos anteriores”.[9] The characterisation of the earlier rule is the site's own.

The channel. Its programme guide lists repeats of matches, “Compacto Futbolero en 60” and “Deportes TVC Noticias” among its programmes; the guide shows no date.[5]

The site. Its menu lists Liga Nacional, Selección Honduras, Fútbol Internacional, Estadísticas, Videos and Guía TV, and its summary names the MLS, LaLiga, the Champions League, the Premier League and the Copa Centroamericana. As retrieved on 26 September 2026 its lead items, all dated that day, concerned the national team between its Nations League matches against Suriname and Jamaica, and an injury to a Real Madrid forward.[1]

How large is Deportes TVC's audience?

No television-audience currency, audited readership survey or web audit covering Honduran outlets was found, and the broadcasting market study posted by the competition authority, the Comisión para la Defensa y Promoción de la Competencia (CDPC), could not be retrieved. No audited television or web audience figure for Deportes TVC or for the Televicentro channels was found, and the outlet's own pages that were read publish none.[1][2]

La Prensa, reporting in 2018, described Televicentro in its own words as “el emporio de televisión más grande”; that is a newspaper's characterisation, with no measure attached, and it is not adopted here.[6]

Since when has Deportes TVC existed?

No launch date for the Deportes TVC brand, its channel or its site was retrieved; the site's footer carries a 2025 copyright line.[1]

For the group, La Prensa reported on 12 December 2018, in an article on the death of Rafael Ferrari: “Creó Televicentro en 1987 tras integrar una red de las frecuencias de Canal 5, Telesistema 7 y 3 y Telecadena 7 y 4.” The same article states: “En 1987 creó la Corporación Televicentro con los canales 5, Telesistema 3 y 7 y Telecadena 7 y 4.”[6] The group's own history page could not be retrieved, so the 1987 date rests on that single newspaper report.

Why does Deportes TVC matter in Honduras's sport?

It is the sports output of a television group that La Prensa dates to 1987, and in July 2026 it carried the opening match of the Liga Hondubet on its channel and streaming platform, by its own report.[6][3] Its site was publishing national-team news on 26 September 2026.[1]

Reporters Without Borders, in its 2026 entry for Honduras, writes: “Media pluralism has been undermined by multinational corporations taking over major outlets and political and business leaders acquiring local newsrooms.” The entry does not name Televicentro.[7] That is the monitor's statement.
