What is beIN Sports Türkiye?
beIN Sports Türkiye is the Turkish arm of the beIN Sports television service, run as a pay-television operation with a free news site at beinsports.com.tr. The site's künye names Polaris Televizyon Yayıncılık A.Ş. at Cihannüma mahallesi, Yıldız caddesi No. 34, Beşiktaş, İstanbul, and identifies the proprietor as “DIGITURK, Krea İçerik Hizmetleri ve Prodüksiyon Anonim Şirketi”; the site's own footer carries a Digiturk copyright line.[1][2]
Television broadcasting is licensed by the Radyo ve Televizyon Üst Kurulu under Kanun No. 6112, adopted 15/2/2011 and published in the Resmî Gazete of 3/3/2011, No. 27863, whose Article 27(1) requires a media service provider to obtain a separate licence from the board for each broadcasting technique and medium.[3]
What does beIN Sports Türkiye cover?
The site's standing football sections are the Trendyol Süper Lig, the UEFA Champions League, the English Premier League, the German Bundesliga and the French Ligue 1, alongside further leagues; beyond football it carries basketball, including the NBA and the EuroLeague, and Formula 1.[2]
The domestic core of that list is defined by the federation. The Türkiye Futbol Federasyonu's 2024 – 2025 Sezonu Süper Lig Müsabakaları Statüsü sets the division at nineteen clubs playing a double round-robin, with four relegation places and entry to international competition on UEFA's criteria, and its Article 1 reserves the naming of the division exclusively to the federation's board.[4]
How large is beIN Sports Türkiye's audience?
No audited audience or subscriber figure for the service could be retrieved. The recognised television measurement currency is TİAK, whose 2024 yearbook gives a panel of 4,327 households at 31 December 2024 against a universe of 58,367,000 people aged five and over, and publishes channel figures only as top-ten rankings by rating and share, from which no figure for a sports channel could be read.[5]
The regulator's own survey measures the genre rather than the service: the Radyo ve Televizyon Üst Kurulu's Medyametre Medya Kullanım Alışkanlıkları Araştırması 2024, conducted face to face with 15,766 respondents aged 15 and over across 26 provinces with fieldwork in January–August 2024, lists “Spor Yorum Programları” among the television programme types watched at 35.7 per cent.[6]
What is dated and documented is the price of the rights rather than the audience for them. The Türkiye Futbol Federasyonu announced on 2 March 2024 that package E of the tender for the transfer of Süper Lig and TFF 1. Lig broadcasting rights had gone to Krea İçerik Hizmetleri ve Prodüksiyon A.Ş. at “sezonluk 182.000.000,00-USD (218.400.000,00-USD KDV DAHİL)”, with 11 March 2024 set as the deadline for completing the legal procedures. The announcement does not state which seasons the contract covers, and this page makes no claim about its current status.[7]
Since when has beIN Sports Türkiye existed?
No founding or launch date for the Turkish service could be retrieved from its own pages. The künye names the companies but gives no date, and the footer of the site carries a copyright line reading “Copyright 2020 Digiturk”, which is a copyright year and not a founding date.[1][2]
The dated anchor that is available is the rights award of 2 March 2024, which names Krea İçerik Hizmetleri ve Prodüksiyon A.Ş. — the company the site's künye gives as its proprietor — as the successful bidder for the domestic league package.[7] Ownership and rights statements go stale quickly and both are anchored here to the dates on which they were published.
The regulatory position is dated by statute rather than by tender. Kanun No. 6112 has applied since its publication in the Resmî Gazete of 3/3/2011, No. 27863, and under its Article 27(1) a separate licence must be held from the Radyo ve Televizyon Üst Kurulu for each broadcasting technique and medium a service uses, so a pay-television operation and a satellite service are licensed separately.[3]
Why does beIN Sports Türkiye matter in Turkey's sport?
It is the service attached to the company that the federation named as the successful bidder for the domestic league rights package in its announcement of 2 March 2024, which makes it the commercial counterpart to the public broadcaster in the carriage of the Süper Lig, the competition the federation's own statute defines as the country's top professional football division.[7][4]
On the wider media environment, Reporters Without Borders places Türkiye 163rd of 180 countries in its 2026 World Press Freedom Index with a score of 27.94, on indicator scores of 20.16 political, 26.78 economic, 31.20 legal, 28.93 social and 32.61 security.[8] That ranking is reported as the organisation published it and no inference is drawn from it about this outlet. The opening sentence of the Media landscape section of its Türkiye country page reads: “With 90% of national media outlets under government control, the public has turned towards media outlets of varying political stances that are independent and critical of power over the past five years to learn about the impact of the economic and political crisis on the country.” That sentence is quoted as published, at country level.
