What is Baseball Reference?
Baseball Reference is the statistical record of baseball — every major leaguer since 1871 with complete batting, pitching and fielding lines, plus full registers of the minor leagues, winter leagues, NPB, KBO and international play — published by Sports Reference LLC of Philadelphia.[1] [2]
How is it compiled?
From official league statistics, standardized and cross-indexed — a player's page carries career stats, transactions, contracts, draft position and awards, with the minor- and winter-league register documenting professional careers far beyond MLB.[1]
Why does it matter?
It is the sport's reference of record — cited daily across the industry — and for players whose careers run through the minors and Latin American winter ball, often the single public place their full professional history is documented.[1] [2]
