What is AZBilliards?

AZBilliards is the independent hub of pool: daily tournament news, live brackets and scoring, a money leaderboard, player profiles, forums, photos, video and podcasts. Founded in June 1998 by Mike Howerton in Phoenix, Arizona, “as an online news source for Arizona pool players”, it is published by EPPA Inc. with Howerton still its chief executive.[1] [3]

What does it cover?

The professional and amateur game worldwide — event coverage since 1998, forums since 2000, real-time tournament scoring since 2008, live-stream coverage in partnership with Accu-Stats since 2007 — with a staff of named writers led by editor Jerry Forsyth and tournament reporter Skip Maloney, and photographer Erwin Dionisio.[1] [2]

What is its reach and standing?

No traffic audit is published. The forum’s own counters on 11 September 2026 read 578,947 threads, 8.3 million messages and 51,135 members, and the site calls itself “the largest database of information in the Billiards industry”. It is founder-owned and advertising-supported, with cue-maker Predator prominent among sponsors; no betting or federation ownership.[1] [3] [4]

Since when?

June 1998. The player database, money list and live scoring were added over the following decade.[1]

Why does it matter in pool?

Because pool has no single governing body publishing results, and for twenty-five years AZBilliards has been where results, prize money and rankings are filed first and kept. The money leaderboard in particular is the closest the sport has to an objective earnings ladder.[1] [3]
