What is 24ur.com?
24ur.com is the news portal of the Slovene commercial broadcaster Pro Plus. The site's own footer carries the ISSN 1581-3711 and links to pro-plus.si for advertising and careers, which is the operator's own identification of itself.[1]
The Euromedia Ownership Monitor's Slovenia country report, published in December 2025 by a project coordinated at the University of Salzburg with support from the European Commission's DG CONNECT, lists POP TV, Kanal A and 24ur.com under Pro Plus d.o.o. and states that the company "is part of the international group Central European Media Enterprises (CME), which has been owned by the investment fund PPF Group, based in Czech Republic, since 2020".[2] That is the monitor's attribution as at its December 2025 edition; no later ownership position was retrieved and none is assumed.
What does 24ur.com cover?
The sports section's own index covers football, including the UEFA Champions League and the Spanish and French leagues, Formula 1, MotoGP, basketball, combat sports, cycling, winter sport, volleyball, ice hockey and handball; its metadata describes the section as carrying "Šport in novice iz sveta športa, aktualni prenosi v živo, video vsebine, reportaže in ekskluzivni intervjuji" — sport and sports news, live transmissions, video, reports and exclusive interviews.[1] That is the desk's own description of itself.
Two retrieved examples show the desk's range. It reported the friendly international between Croatia and Slovenia at Varaždin in the June 2026 international window, which Croatia won 2–1, with goals by Luka Modrić and Mario Pašalić for the hosts and Andraž Šporar for Slovenia.[3] It also publishes audience reporting on its own basketball coverage, stating for the Germany v Slovenia match at EuroBasket 2022 that "Dosegla je 27-odstotni rating in pred zaslone prikovala 78 odstotkov gledalcev" — a 27 per cent rating and a 78 per cent share — and naming AGB Nielsen Media Research in the 18-to-54 group as the source.[4] That figure is the site's own report of the measurement supplier's data.
How large is 24ur.com's audience?
MOSS — Merjenje obiskanosti spletnih strani — is the recognised web-audience measurement, and Marketing magazin publishes its monthly results. For March 2026, reported on 7 April 2026, MOSS gave 24ur.com 1,134,982 different users, a rise of 9.3 per cent on February, within a measured universe of 1,521,902 monthly users across 56 participating sites.[5] For October 2020, reported on 4 November 2020, the same measurement gave the site more than 964,000 unique users.[6]
Both figures are for the whole domain; MOSS does not publish a separate figure for the sports section, so no audience number specific to the sports desk is given here. On television, the site's own reporting of AGB Nielsen data for a single basketball match is cited above and is a match-level figure, not a channel average.[4] Traffic estimators are not audited measurement and are not used.
Since when has 24ur.com existed?
A launch date for the portal could not be established from a source retrieved for this page; the site's own pages reached carry its ISSN registration and operator links but no dated account of its establishment.[1] The independent measurement trail retrieved here begins with the MOSS release for October 2020,[6] which establishes only that the domain was measured from at least that month.
The ISSN itself is a registration identifier for a serial publication and not a date; it is reported here because the site prints it, and not as evidence of when the site began.[1]
The ownership date is separate and is sourced: the Euromedia Ownership Monitor dates the PPF Group's ownership of CME, the group Pro Plus belongs to, from 2020.[2] A change of owner higher up the chain is not a founding date, and the two are not run together here.
Why does 24ur.com matter in Slovenia's sport?
Because it is the domain MOSS measures at the largest number of different users in the months retrieved for this page, and because the sports desk sits inside a commercial broadcasting group whose television arm carries live sport.[1][5] Audience and rights therefore move together here in a way they do not for a print-only title.
Two named monitoring bodies have published on the setting. The Centre for Media Pluralism and Media Freedom's 2026 Media Pluralism Monitor scores Slovenia at 42 per cent risk for Fundamental Protection, 75 per cent for Market Plurality, 51 per cent for Political Independence and 50 per cent for Social Inclusiveness, and finds that "Editorial independence remains insufficiently protected against commercial and owner influence, with hidden advertising, blurred boundaries between editorial and commercial content, and broader cross-sector ownership raising concerns".[7] The Euromedia Ownership Monitor states that "The Slovenian media landscape is characterized by a pronounced concentration of ownership in the hands of a few major groups, alongside a web of business and political interests".[2] Both are quoted as those bodies' findings.
