What are the World Wrestling Championships?
The World Wrestling Championships are the sport's annual world titles across all three styles — thirty weight classes in one September week. At Zagreb 2025, Iran swept both men's team titles and Japan's women continued their dynasty.[1] [2]

How do wrestlers qualify?
One entry per nation per weight, selected through national trials — the U.S. system of Final X is itself a documented credential — with seeds from UWW's Ranking Series and world medals carrying Olympic qualification weight in Games years.[2] [3]
Why do they matter?
With the Olympics biennial in effect for wrestlers (Worlds fill every other year's summit), world medals are the sport's core credential — and the team race, Iran against the USA against the Caucasus schools, its national drama.[1] [3]
