What is the World Snooker Championship?
The World Snooker Championship is the sport's summit — seventeen days each April and May at Sheffield's 980-seat Crucible Theatre, finals played over two days and 35 frames. In 2026, China's Wu Yize beat Shaun Murphy 18–17 in a final that went to the last frame.[1] [2]
Why does it matter?
The Crucible's intimacy — players a few feet from the audience for a fortnight — makes it snooker's greatest test; Stephen Hendry and Ronnie O'Sullivan share the modern record of seven titles apiece.[2] [3]
