What is the Women's Softball World Cup?

The WBSC Women's Softball World Cup is softball's world championship. Its 2026 edition ran an unusual three-city group stage — Prague, Lima and Oklahoma City, 57 games in all — feeding the 2027 Finals, with the whole cycle serving as the pathway toward LA28 Olympic qualification.[1] [2]

Why does it matter?

With the Olympics only intermittently open to softball, the World Cup is the sport's consistent world title — and in this cycle it is also the qualification road to Oklahoma City in 2028.[2] [3]
