What is ONE Championship?
ONE Championship is Asia's premier martial-arts organization — founded in Singapore in 2011 by Chatri Sityodtong, staging MMA alongside Muay Thai, kickboxing and submission grappling on the same cards, with world champions in each art. Its 2026 calendar is the largest in the sport: a record 72 events, from weekly Friday Fights at Bangkok's Lumpinee Stadium to U.S. primetime cards on Prime Video.[1] [2]
How does it work?
Champions defend belts across the four arts under ONE's own ruleset (MMA bouts allow knees to grounded opponents; striking bouts use 4-oz gloves), with the Lumpinee pipeline feeding Thai and regional talent into world-title contention — a documented Asian ladder parallel to the American promotions'.[1] [3]
Why does it matter?
It is the global stage of Asian combat sports — the summit for Muay Thai and kickboxing professionals outright, and a major MMA platform whose champions rank among the sport's elite; for athletes from Asia especially, ONE contracts and titles are premier credentials.[1] [2]
