What is the NRL?
The National Rugby League is rugby league's premier competition — 17 clubs across Australia and New Zealand playing toward a Grand Final at Sydney's Accor Stadium. The Brisbane Broncos won the 2025 premiership 26–22 over Melbourne Storm, ending a 19-year drought.[1] [2]
How does it work?
A salary-capped 27-round season into a finals series, with the NRLW women's competition alongside — and, uniquely, the season interrupted by State of Origin, three matches between New South Wales and Queensland that outdraw the club game entirely and for which clubs surrender their best players.[1] [3]
