What is the Longines Global Champions Tour?

The Longines Global Champions Tour (LGCT) is show jumping's premier private circuit: the top 30 riders of the Longines Rankings, plus wildcards, competing across 17 city stages — from Doha's season opener through Cannes, St. Tropez, Paris, Mexico City and beyond — in the tour's 20th season in 2026, alongside the Global Champions League team competition.[1][2]

How does it work and who competes?

Each stage runs a 5-star Grand Prix; season points crown the LGCT champion, with the GCL running team standings across the same calendar. Because the start lists are built from the world rankings' top 30, an LGCT start is by construction a top-of-sport credential.[2][3]

Since when does it exist?

Founded in 2006 by Olympic champion Jan Tops, the tour grew into the sport's richest circuit; 2026 marks its 20th season and the Global Champions League's 10th.[1][3]

Why does it matter?

The LGCT concentrates show jumping's elite, money and audience: its Grands Prix are among the sport's most valuable, and season titles rank with the World Cup among jumping's premier honors outside championships.[2][3]
