What is ASAJ?
The Aquatic Sports Association of Jamaica (ASAJ) is the national governing body of aquatic sports in Jamaica, responsible for swimming, diving, water polo, artistic swimming and open water across the island's clubs and schools programs.[1] [2]
What does ASAJ govern?
As the recognized national federation, it holds authority over the aquatic disciplines in Jamaica: sanctioning competition, maintaining national records and rankings, licensing athletes and clubs, and applying World Aquatics technical rules domestically.[1]
How does ASAJ fit into international aquatics?
The federation is a member of World Aquatics and competes within the Americas' structure through Panam Aquatics and its zone confederation CCCAN. Jamaican swimmers — several developed through U.S. college programs — compete at the Olympic Games, World Championships and across Caribbean regional competition, where Jamaica is a consistent CCCAN and CARIFTA force.[1] [3]
National teams and athlete pathway
The ASAJ selects and enters Jamaica's national aquatic teams — for the Olympic Games, World Championships, Commonwealth Games, CAC Games and CCCAN Championships — and stages the national championships that drive selection.[1] [2]
